Q: What is this PARTY program about?

If you attend the P.A.R.T.Y Program, you will spend a full day with various trauma departments at The Alfred or The Royal Melbourne Hospital. You will meet the people that care for trauma patients - paramedics, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and volunteers.

Q: What do I wear?

Schools generally give instruction about what students should wear but a school uniform or sports uniform is encouraged (unless the school does not have a uniform) as it is helpful for patients’ families and hospital staff to be able to identify you as part of a school group.

Q: What do I need to bring?

Morning tea is provided but you either need to bring a cold lunch or buy food from the onsite cafeteria.

Q: What happens if I experience something that makes me feel sick?

Firstly, this is quite normal. As well as your teachers there will be Hospital staff around. We also have a Psychiatrist, Pastoral worker and Sick nurse on duty every program. If you feel sick you will be supported to get the help you need.

Q: Anything else I need to do to prepare for day?

YES! Please have food for breakfast. We have seen that people who have breakfast not only have the energy to enjoy the day but they are also less likely to feel overwhelmed by the content of the day.
